Happy August! I’ve written before about some of my favorite reads from the first half of the year (linked below), but I thought I’d start sharing on a more regular cadence, since that letter went over so well.

I’ve separated everything by genre, since everything is not for everyone, as it were. There are some books I hated so much that I’ve chosen to omit them entirely, so as not to be a dick to the author, but they’re still marked as read and rated on Goodreads should you be looking to avoid the same fate.

I read less non-fiction than you’d think I do and certainly a lot less than I used to (I had a phase earlier in my career where I thought reading should primarily be about optimization and not pleasure, thank god I’ve matured past that).

These days, if it’s non-fiction, I usually opt for an audiobook! I loved Anderson Cooper’s two books on the Vanderbilts and Astors and I like to dabble in author-read memoirs. It being the peak of summer and all, I am much more in the beach read he…
