Spend the day at the beach with me?
Beach, business, pickleball, and absolutely 0 pairs of shoes on my feet.
Happy First Pumpkin Spice Day of 2024 to all who celebrate. Here is a tableau from my group chat about this season now that Starbucks has made PSLs available as of today.
“Strike me dead,” as the girls say.
Today’s issue for paid subscribers is inspired by
’s excellent reintroduction letter. I feel an urge to re-introduce myself every time someone new subscribes, which means every letter. It’s too much! It’s impossible! But even as someone who knows Becca, I thought her reintroduction letter and a day-in-the-life with her was so fun. I’d gladly read many more day-in-the-life of hers, no matter how mundane— in fact, the more mundane, the better.Part of this is that I’ve transitioned to a portfolio career (I didn’t coin this concept at all, writes about it well and often) this year— going from being a W2 employee with an unpaid newsletter to a 1099’er with a bunch of different revenue streams. In the future I’m open to discussing the breakout of the streams and what they contribute to my bottom line a bit more.
For now, I thought I’d bring you along for a ride on one of my last days left living and working from Long Beach, Long Island! If this is boring for you and you don’t care at all about the mundanities of a day spent with me, no harm no foul— there are plenty long, toothsome pieces I’ve written for you in my archive. ;)
Summer is going by a bit too fast for me, and we move out of our Long Beach beach rental on Labor Day. I leave for a girls weekend in Nantucket today— while you’re reading this I’ll be on my way!— and I wish I could slow down time. After we move out of our Long Beach place, we’ve got 3-4 days in Brooklyn, then off to Portugal for 3 weeks. We’ll finish out 2024 in Brooklyn, then move on to do the digital nomad thing for a while (read: the cold months) before landing back in Long Beach. Not only is the LB summer era ending… my BK era (12 years!) will end soon after it. I’m sure much to opine there as it happens, but as of now, it feels like July was approximately 2 years long, and August ended in under 30 seconds.
Alas, that’s that. Read on if you’re interested in:
