The Weekender // 026
The usual fun weekend diversions, plus three small wins from my week this week.
Welcome to THE WEEKENDER, your weekly dispatch full of ~Saturday spirit~! I fill you in briefly on the week, share a few Little Luxuries that make the mundane feel special and save the best for last with some Brain Food to mull over, expand your horizons, or discuss with your friends over a cappuccino. There are usually lots of links and pictures which perhaps will get clipped if you’re reading in your inbox— click here to read in browser!
Hi Weekenders! It’s more of the same from me this last week, so I’ll keep it short: life is moving crazy fast, everything is frenetic, I can’t believe I’m leaving for my wedding this week, I’m pretty sure I’m going to forget something even though I have started packing and there are two detailed spreadsheets with “inventory” for my suitcases, etc, etc.

Small wins from my week:
Tried a new coffee from the coffee shop I work at a few times a week— raw honey, vanilla and sea salt. Oddly savory and kinda divine!
I did not lose my cool when I dropped my car off for a routine inspection and the mechanic hit me with $2k of surprise repairs I’d need to pass the inspection and renew my registration. I was as un-bothered as I think it’s possible to be when you owe a surprise $2k, a real testament to the way a wedding era will make you feel like it’s all Monopoly money anyway.
I successfully got myself out of a funk on Wednesday just when I thought the funk would totally consume my week. It took therapy, weight-lifting and 10K steps, but I got it done!
Let’s get into some fun weekend fluff, shall we?
J. Crew is doing 40% off this weekend, which is dangerous if you’re like me. I’m in utter peril of bringing home this cute mini dress for under $60 and this jersey and lace tank for under $30. I’m not allowed to buy this sweatshirt with a really cool contrast stitch collar or this SICK tote. Says me. But I really want to.
The First Rodeo reader beloved “WFH pant” from AYR is on sale for under $100 in some sizes! My full round up of comfy but not sloppy pants to work from home in lives here, but readers consistently hype up AYR’s High Hopes Pant.
This raffia fish bag wants to come to Portugal with me next week…
Skewing into the every day— this is the best laundry detergent I’ve ever smelled. (French Saffron specifically!) It makes everything smell like it’s wearing the best perfume, including me. I’m huffing our sheets, my workout clothes, everything. My fiancé is INSISTENT on buying Gain laundry detergent in a really annoying way (sorry, João) but even he begrudgingly admitted “it smells really good.” My only annoyance is that I will be spending more $ on laundry detergent than I’d like going forward…
If you followed me in my sustainable shopkeep days, you might be into the brand Organic Basics, which I just discovered. They let me pick out some organic cotton undies and athletic wear and I was impressed with both the packaging (which would definitely have met my sustainability criteria for my merchants back in the day) and the performance!
My bestie Kim of the Internet has been on an incredible journey as a nomadic creator ever since she sold her startup Omsom. I love checking her Instagram from my desktop computer to see where in the world she is (most recently on a boat sailing around Greece! And not even for the first time!) so this round up of 27 things she’s learned about being a solo traveler was just what the doctor ordered.
A masterclass from Crown Affair yet again as to how to launch a product. (No, I haven’t tried, but I want to.) And a reminder that being creative and offline enough to still have original, interesting ideas and perspective is actually the most valuable competitive advantage you can have as a brand these days!
Olivia Muenter invited me to Desk Tour, my favorite column of hers! Read on for a little tour of my super secret writing nook that overlooks the ocean.
My buddy Ali Kriegsman’s profile of 4AM Skin founder Jade Beguelin is probably my favorite “founder profile” I’ve read in recent memory.
Dreamy art to inspire you this weekend.

Excellent read, per usual. See ya SOOOON <3
