The Weekender // 029
Notes on Caravaggio, leather totes, the new J.Lo romcom and so much more.
Welcome to THE WEEKENDER, your weekly dispatch full of ~Saturday spirit~! I fill you in briefly on the week, share a few Little Luxuries that make the mundane feel special and save the best for last with some Brain Food to mull over, expand your horizons, or discuss with your friends over a cappuccino. There are usually lots of links and pictures which perhaps will get clipped if you’re reading in your inbox— click here to read in browser!
Happy Saturday! There’s been a bit of June Gloom over here and I can’t wait until it’s reliably sunny every day and my weekends are booked and busy with beach days with friends. In the meantime, leaning in to the fun of the World Cup!

Small wins from my week:
I had the best Tuesday. How random is that? When do you ever hear someone say that these days??
They are really starting to remember my name at my favorite coffee shop.
I came up with an idea that I think inspired my second novel! I obviously do need to finish this one I’m working on first (I stopped writing regularly while in wedding-land)— but no idea which I run with and try to publish first.
Let’s get into some fun weekend fluff, shall we?
I have been really digging Tory Burch lately, and their sale on sale is so good (extra 25% off) right now. I got these red sunglasses last month and I get so many compliments all the time! My next prey is either going to be the “pierced” slide or fisherman sandal.
Speaking of sales, the Madewell sale is really good! Their woven bags never go on sale but the woven leather tote (laptop size and bucket bag) is on sale for $100. This cool paracord beach hat caught my eye too.
The cutest J.Crew bag is also down from $150 to $67 in their sale-on-sale going on— help!! And this paracord and satin gem? I get so sick with desire over bags, I have to really restrain myself.
I swear, the soles of these espadrilles feel like a trampoline, they’re so squishy. Every step is bliss. They’re more comfortable than any of my sneakers but make me look far nicer— I feel like people are sleeping on them because they’re biased against R*thy’s…
Wow, this short post on Caravaggio’s The Beheading of Saint John The Baptist is incredible. It makes me sad that school is often done or inaccessibly priced for most of us at the ages where we’d appreciate the learnings the most… not to get sad-mode on you. (Not the same Beheading of Saint John The Baptist as I used above, for what it’s worth!)
This news about Colorado getting federal approval to buy drugs in Canada is insane. Alec explains it really beautifully, even if you are someone who glazes over when people talk about the nuances of our healthcare system (I am that someone).
I watched the new J.Lo rom com on Netflix last weekend— and while I’m not particularly a fan of her film repertoire nor Netflix’s rom coms, I thought Office Romance completely delivered! It was as good as rom coms get these days… recommend if you’re in the mood for one and have maxed out on all the oldies.
I probably need this reminder more than you…
