Small wins from my week:
When my mid-day slump hit Wednesday and my eyes started to fry from staring at a screen all day, I skipped the second coffee and instead went for a mid-day bike ride on the boardwalk. It had such an outsized impact on my mood!
I got to catch up with a dear friend who has a knack for refilling my cup and getting me into my most creative and confident headspace. ❤️🩹
I have a liiiiittle back and shoulder injury, so I treated myself to a 90 minute massage, which I think could probably cure nearly any ailment. Already thinking about when I can do it again…

My friend Ali Kriegsman introduced me to new-to-me brand Ama, a green coffee, Amanita & L-Theanine tonic. If anyone has legs to stand on when it comes to discussing caffeine, it’s Ali-- she accomplishes an utterly insane amount in a week, so I was intrigued. I drank mine on ice with soda water and it gave me sort of a calm energy buzz similar to how I feel when I drink matcha! Nice for when I don’t want to have a milky coffee on a hot summer afternoon.
I love the bandana print trend and decided I’d really like to see it on a pair of loose, summery pants. I had the hardest time finding what I envisioned, but these 100% cotton smocked shorts from The Great are pretty great!
Speaking of fun pants— I love these (very wearable and comfortable seeming!) pink personality pants! I might have to do it…
The mermaid waves I rocked for my wedding were my favorite hairstyle ever. Not precious, equal parts Wuthering Heights and mermaid just emerged from the sea. I finally got my hands on a crimper that makes fast work of the look, even for someone who is not “good” at doing her hair! I use the 1” one and this brand also makes my hair straightener, so I trust their quality from experience. Now please invite me over, so I have more excuses to crimp.
Who knows if this excites you, but fine jeweler Ariel Gordon is having a sample sale through July 27th… the price of gold is stupid high right now, so while not remarkably cheap, I thought some of it was reasonably intriguing. (This $200-something solid gold stacking ring, for example.)
Interesting art discovery of the week, “A Devout Nun” by Joyce Lee. Very pleasing. The nun kind of has Instagram face though, no? I guess that might be the point.
I published two other letters this week, ICYMI: one on scarcity mindset and my ongoing struggle to write a book, and the other— notably lighter!— four great Etsy finds.
I have two summer songs on repeat, both oldies but goodies. Summerboy by Lady Gaga and Vacation by Connie Francis! Give ‘em a whirl, I promise they prevent bad moods.
Well, this was an instant-click for me: novelist Elin Hilderbrand on the distinct joys of an American summer.
I will stop and giggle at every Trojan Horse joke I see in the wake of The Odyssey. I really want to see it but it’s a long shlep to the theater from where I live and with the 3 hour run time, it’s easily a 4+ hour mission. If you saw it in theaters, was it worth it? (I am pretty sure it must be!)
It’s most definitely worth it to see it in the theater. A small screen could never do this film justice!
