Welcome to THE WEEKENDER, your weekly dispatch full of ~Saturday spirit~! I fill you in briefly on the week, share a few Little Luxuries that make the mundane feel special and save the best for last with some Brain Food to mull over, expand your horizons, or discuss with your friends over a cappuccino. There are usually lots of links and pictures which perhaps will get clipped if you’re reading in your inbox— click here to read in browser!
Happy Saturday! As you read this I am on a crazy journey: 2 weddings in 2 different countries less than 24 hours apart. One carry-on suitcase and a dream…
I loved Harling Ross Anton’s piece “The agony and the ecstasy of wedding guest style” and I feel pretty smug about my set-up! I got this style of Alemais dress secondhand on Poshmark and rented this one (also Alemais!). I added a borrowed Paco Rabanne clutch and a pair of gold chunky kitten wedges that will take me through both weddings in my tiny suitcase. I’m even handing off one dress to a friend who will pass it to another friend who will borrow it for another wedding while I’m en route to the second wedding… 💀

Feeling incredibly attracted to these cool wired headphones that have the look of a friendship bracelet! For just $20, you will be seeing me in these on the streets…
Smitten with this gingham trench… it looks both crisp and cozy. I may be underestimating Marine Layer…! This heavier wool coat is sharp for winter too.
I am begging Madewell to make this woven shopper in the size of their slightly larger Ellis tote! How good with the woven leather be in this shape!? It’s gotta just be a matter of time until they do this, right?
Instantly drawn to the recipe for these pumpkin brown butter chocolate chip cookies. If you make them now you are legally obligated to give me some.

Art of the week is by 20th century Spanish surrealist artist Remedios Varo!
Next time you’re feeling scroll-y, just do this instead of opening up Instagram.
I devoured this— a big list of gothic artists and examples of their great work from Lauren Sands.
Not to sip haterade but I kinda detest the Dunkin x LL Bean collab! I feel like the items are really at odds with the LL Bean quality/use/longevity ethos that defines their brand…
Kinda obsessed to read that Bristol has become the first city to ban advertisements for fast fashion.
I don’t even know how I feel about this: there is a bakery in NYC that’s getting a lot of (justified) heat for selling a loaf of rye bread… for $60. (Yes.) Grocery store behemoth Lidl dropped an ad campaign right outside advertising their rye bread for $3 (normal price). Technically I’m with Lidl, but it feels wrong to back a big chain over a bunch of local independent bakers…
How an audiobook gets made! What a fun piece from the NYT.
I was dying reading this piece: Your friends don’t hate you, they just might be white. The examples of spoken and unspoken conversations are quite spot on.
